The boys had their clay lesson in art class. I love their work so much.

The art teachers put Boss’s on display in the class case in the entrance of the school.

They make me so proud!

Cakes decided it was a nice evening to roll around in the fresh cut grass. Oh, to be 2!

Caught Duck Dynamo

Our Bullmastiff puppy was being a bit too quiet today while I had her outside on a long line. Well, she was busy destroying my hostas. Caught her brown-nosed!

Boss has his First Eucharist this Sat and while at his rehearsal on Tuesday, I realized I never got his a suit jacket. On the way home from rehearsal, I popped on Walmart online and ordered a very nice suit jacket – rush shipping! It arrived today and he couldn’t wait to try it on. To my surprise, it came with pants and a belt as well. Really a great deal!! And online shopping on my cell phone saves me again…

He thought he was so cool trying it on with his camo. He said he looked like he was from the “Duck Dynamo” show! He’s talking about Duck Dynasty. One of our favorite shows right now.
Boss is getting so dern big!

Boss the Breadmaker

Today at school, Boss had an “in-house” field trip. They had a baker come in and teach bread-making! This is my kind of lesson! The bag he brought his bread in boasts “hands-on learning and fun!”. I am a little upset I didn’t get to chaperone. 🙂

Boss was super proud of his bread and couldn’t wait to share it with the family for dinner. He and Wildman have been showing interest in cooking lately and I LOVE it. I let them help and want them to learn. Boss wanted to cut and butter the bread for everyone. He did an amazing job slicing and carefully using the knife.

I am one proud Momma!

And everyone loved the bread which made him feel so good! I wish I could have had some. Cakes ate hers and asked for more…

But there wasn’t any!

Boss is playing football = 2 hr long practice, 4 nights a week. Yeah, he’s 7 yrs old. Hay, helps instill good work ethic. Well, the cheerleaders were practicing behind us. Wildman and Cakes preferred to watch them instead of their brother.

Whatever keeps them entertained and sitting still!!

Slacker Monday

I don’t feel like I did anything today! Let’s retrace my steps… This morning I refused to get out of bed until 7:30am even though all the kids were up. I distinctly recall telling the boys to leave me alone and putting a pillow over my head. When Cakes began to cry, I couldn’t fight it anymore. Got breakfast done, kids fed, and hit the office. I think it took all morning to process 3 pieces of mail. Thank goodness I had my assistant…

All I could think about was what I was making for dinner! (nerd alert) The Pioneer Women’s “My Brothers Chicken Tacos”. I kept reading the recipe to make sure I was prepared. I needed Taco seasoning. I found a packet in my cabinet and the second ingredient was MSG! Barf. I made my own.

Sprinkled chicken with it so it could marinate as it thawed.

And the chicken tacos were AMAZING. So, so good. So worth the effort.

I had to rush through my fabulous dinner, that I’d been looking forward to all day, to get the BOSS to football practice. Hubbs had to keep working so I had to take Cakes and Wildman with. Hot mess. Cakes is not interested in sitting still for two hours. She was playing fetch with Adam and fell. She got a little booboo right on the tip of her nose…

It was kind of a weird night… A number of frazzled moms… The weather… On my left, storms.

On my right, the sun.

We managed to end practice right as the thunder started to roll. Boss had a great practice and he was super hot so we stopped and got ice cream. I know I am a pushover.

Oh and the family meeting with new house rules is going well. The boys have been very well behaved and trying hard to get their chores done and then some. It’s like a weight has been lifted, like the air is lighter around here. I haven’t had to yell hardly at all. LOVE IT. It’s been another good day. Winning.
